  • Longueuil is above average for percentage of parkland that is natural area at 66%.
  • Longueuil has the third highest number of park washrooms relative to population size, or over twice the average, at 29 washrooms per 100,000 people.
  • Longueuil is one of 53% of cities with a park system master plan updated within the last 10 years.
  • A section of rue Saint-Charles Ouest will be closed to vehicles for four months this year, a first for the city. The pedestrianization initiative will be accompanied by public space animations for all ages, with events and activities spilling over into the surrounding neighbourhood and nearby parks.
  • The city is working to remove trees affected by emerald ash borer in three large nature parks, with 20,000 dead trees slated to be felled by 2024. All of the wood will be repurposed, with some wood left on site to serve as shelter and food for wildlife to support biodiversity.
  • The city is investing $100 million into improving parks, bike paths, and other urban infrastructure in 2022.
