  • Mississauga is one of 57% of cities that has a seniors strategy that includes parks.
  • The city recently approved a new Parks Plan that will guide parkland acquisition, ensuring that parks and recreation amenities are provided where it is needed most.
  • In 2021, the city began to develop an Urban Agriculture Strategy with a range of stakeholder input from schools, urban growers, food banks, Indigenous and equity-deserving communities. The final strategy will seek council approval in 2022 and will work to support “corporate and community efforts to increase urban-scale food production across Mississauga.”
  • The city's outdoor natural ice rink program provided 50 rinks in 2021, tripling the amount of rink space available to residents as a response to Covid-19.
